Health Insurance Claims
Cashless hospitalization (direct billing)
Most international hospitals in Thailand have direct billing agreements with major insurers. You simply show your insurance card at admission.
- 1. Present your insurance card and passport at hospital admission
- 2. The hospital contacts your insurer for pre-authorization
- 3. You receive treatment — the insurer pays the hospital directly
- 4. You only pay your deductible (if any)
Reimbursement claim
If your hospital doesn't have a direct billing agreement, you pay upfront and claim reimbursement.
- 1. Keep all receipts, invoices, and medical reports
- 2. Get a diagnosis letter from your doctor
- 3. Complete the claim form (available on insurer website)
- 4. Submit documents within 30-90 days of treatment
- 5. Reimbursement typically within 10-30 business days

Tips to Get Reimbursed Faster
Always photograph documents
Take photos of all receipts, invoices, and reports. Originals get lost — digital copies save time.
Submit claims promptly
Most insurers have a 30-90 day window. Submitting early speeds up processing and avoids delays.
Request English documentation
Ask Thai hospitals for invoices and reports in English. This avoids translation delays.
Pre-authorize for planned procedures
For planned surgery or expensive treatment, always get pre-authorization to ensure coverage.
